DON ABREGO
March 3, 1923 to March 1, 2011

Don Abrego was the weigh-master at the club for many years. He was an important part of our crew on the Watercloset from when we met in the mid 70' until we sold the final on in the early 90's. He was also a frequent Baja travel companion and house guest at our Rancho Deluxe.
Thought the news of his passing would be of interest to some of the
older members. Gary Graham |

Matthew J. Monise adored and treasured son of Toni and Matt
Monise died at his home August 17th from Melanoma. He was

graduate of Pt. Loma High, he went on to earn a business

his yearly trips to Catalina where he met up with the Lahr

Millie Fitzgerald - Passed away December 28, 2007. Owner of the MIL-SO-MAR.
Having known Lois Ibey in two ways, I feel twice as fortunate. I first became
acquainted with Lois during the summer of 1978. My father, George "Karima"
Nelsen had just landed his first broadbill and as a young person I was
naturally interested in all the "Tasks" delegated to this very professional as
well as conscientious lady. Lois truly followed every task given her to it's
completion. Anything short of this was unacceptable to her. New to San Diego,
we relied on her that day for "Photographic", "Taxidermy", & many other
references. Lois was literally a "walking Yellow Pages" for the members of The
Marlin Club.

There was a “scattering of ashes” for Lois and Mel Ibey. Boats departed the San Diego Marlin Club by 9:00am Sunday, December 30th, convoyed to Buoy # 3, deposit the ashes, and return to the dock. The Ibey family was aboard Dave Heft’s boat PALAPA assisted by John Shea and Bill Fiedler.
Thelma "Teddy" R. Schlieder - December 4, 1922 to January 23, 2007 - Teddy was a volunteer at the San Diego Marlin Club for many years.
