Marlin Mania hits Southern California!!!

The Marlin fishing for the last couple days of August and the first three weeks of September was incredible!!! Feeders, Tailors, Aggressive multiples in the jigs it was all happening better than we've seen for the last five or more years! For those lucky enough to have good timing 3 and 4 fish days were achieved. I sincerely hope all of you got a chance to witness some of this action!

Here's a wild coincidence. My mother was on a fish for over 7-1/2 hours before she lost it. Sound familiar??? Just like the fish I was on for over 7 1/2 hours. They were both hooked inside the 182 spot, both were bait fish, both took us 10 miles in the exact same direction to just inside the 302 spot, and both fish were untouchable and lost! There are some real tough fish out there this year! My Mom's fish came up and jumped over 20 times after 4 1/2 hours! Wow!

Speaking of nice fish congratulations to Rich and Marie Johnson on the "Marie B" for there whopping 202 lb. Marlin caught between the 182 and the 302. Marie was the lucky angler and this is the biggest fish we have weighed at our club this year.

We are having a general membership meeting on October 18 to address the increase in yearly dues. This increase is necessary to cover our growing costs for insurance and general operation of our facility. Hope to see all of you there and I should be able to update you on the Port of San Diego plans for redevelopment of our area as I have a meeting with them tomorrow.

Just as soon as the marlin came and reaped havoc, it seems now all is quiet on the western front as we have not weighed a fish for the last 5 days???  The last fish weighed was aboard the SEA TREK and caught by Mark Henwood at the 390. Nice going guys! But don't give up hope there is still great gobs of bait and warm water so get out there and relocate them!

High Boats for the year are as follows:

ENCOUNTER - 13 Marlin
CHRISTINA LYNN - 7 Marlin
KRYPTONITE - 7 Marlin
KEY TO THE SEA - 6 Marlin
BITE ME - 6 Marlin

Good luck, good fishing and we'll see you here!
Best regards,
Bob Woodard Jr.
