2002 Award Dinner
A great time was had by all with approximately 80 people in attendance, good food, great awards and a huge raffle.
In spite of the poor marlin fishing last year, it made me feel good to see the great attendance at the awards dinner.
Steve Williams did a great job of Emceeing as I passed out the awards. The only hitch we had was when I was announcing the 2003 board of directors and I drew a blank halfway through the introductions. I needed help to finish sorry about that guys!!
We had a great raffle with Lan Okuda and Dennis Albert winning the custom rods. The Wroncys will be enjoying a romantic weekend getaway at the Bay Club. Among the other prizes that were given away were a $100 gift certificate to the brigantine, several reels, gift certifs.. from Fishermans Landing, SD Marine Exchange, many paintings and fish prints and assorted fishing tackle. Lil Miller presented a gift basket award to Troy & Shera Grant for being the 1st to send in their payment for the awards banquet. Next year Lil is going to draw a name from the first 10 people to send in their payment.
Ken Morris presented a epic tale of his 9 hour battle with a swordfish that was lost. His only consolation prize was the Hard Luck Trophy and his memories. Better luck next time Ken.
I would like to thank all of the board of directors for their hard work during the past year and for their help in obtaining raffle prizes. Also thanks to Lil and Penny for their help in coordinating this dinner. In addition, I would like to acknowledge the support from the various businesses and individuals that supported our club throughout the year. We displayed the names of our sponsors at the dinner and we will maintain this display at the club. Please acknowledge their support when you see them or visit their places of business.
