W
hat were you doing on April 12th? To jog everyones memory -- that was the date of our annual club clean-up day. If you sense a note of disappointment, you are correct. We only had a total of 3 members show up; actually, one if you dont count myself and Charlotte. Needless to say we only accomplished a couple of our clean-up goals.Everyone wants a club that looks good and that maintains our image in the community, especially during these times when the Port District is analyzing our presence.
In order that we have a club in the future, I can only reiterate that "We MUST have participation from ALL Members". Participation is the driving force of OUR club and this includes all events as well as the everyday business.
Get involved insure our success in the future.

APRIL RECAP
April 12th - Club Clean-Up Day We would like to thank Eric Borgstede, for painting our fence and Harold Weimer for cleaning our windows later that week. Also, I would like to thank Skete Simmons, Job Site Supply Company, for his generous donation of rags and painting supplies.
April 12th The Marlin Club Hosted the Carlsbad Firefighters Stop Drop and Reel. This tournament was organized by club member Ron Tinney, who is also a Carlsbad Firefighter.
Tournament Results:
The tournament raised approx. $1500 for the UCSD Regional Burn Center: Brave Heart Kids Program, approx. $500 for the Heart to Heart Foundation for kids AEDs in the name of Kendra Blaylock and approx. $200 for the Marlin Club Kids Fishing Program.

The winning department was Escondido Fire, Jeff Cox, with a 27 lb. Halibut. 2nd place went to San Diego Rural FPD, Mike Meyer with a 25.3 lb Halibut, and 3rd place went to Carlsbad Fire Dept, Chris Hollywood with a 22.8 lb Halibut.

April 27th - Open House and Day at the Docks
Thanks to Charles Been, Bob James, and Art Ponce for helping to man our booth at the Day at the Docks festival. We met several new potential members. Also, thanks to Rawhide Ranch for donating the canopy for our use and to our supporters at the Day at the Docks for their donation of booth space.

Many people stopped by our Open House to see what were all about and enjoy a free hotdog. The children had a chance to participate in a free fishing contest from our docks. This was organized and run by Bob Woodard Jr., Bill LeMaster and Rochelle Seeds. Many thanks for their help! Several bass, perch, and sharks were caught. Thanks to Everingham Brothers Bait Company for the donation of the bait and to Ed Waldman for picking it up the bait and use his bait tank.
