Club Improvements
The gate was installed for the following reasons:
Dock Rules
All members are entitled to one key the key is FREE; however, extras and
replacements will cost $3.00.
The gate will be open whenever the club is open.
The gate is currently not locked but will be effective the 3rd week of
December.
We will have the keys available at the Awards Dinner and at our Membership Meeting. The club is currently closed for the winter; however, you may call and leave a message and arrangements can be made.
If you know of someone that would be willing to donate a push button combo lock this would eliminate the need for keys.
Winter Hours
Currently the club is closed for the winter season. We still have paperwork and other duties to perform and we will try to do these on Saturdays as much as possible.
You can still weigh in a fish by calling any of the board of directors or myself. As soon as the fishing picks up again we will modify the hours to match the activities.
Trophy Hunt Update
Ho Ho Ho, Trophy Hunt and what a hunt it was!
Even though the marlin fishing was slow might we remember the rest? Big Albacore, plentiful Bluefin (sometimes), Big Yellowtail and a long and productive Halibut season!
As the Holidays are upon us take a few minutes to reflect on the good times we had in the season past. Call a fishing buddy and make some big plans for 2003 or just remember the good times had, just dont lose touch.
Best Wishes and Mele Kalikimaka

1. Make the sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan; add the shallots and sauté until tender. Add the wine and cook over med-high heat until reduced to about 5-6 tablespoons of liquid. Strain and return the liquid to the pan. Blend in the half-and-half and season with tarragon, chervil, and salt. Simmer until the sauce is warm, stirring often, Set aside and serve warm.
2. Grill the fish: Brush the fish with the oil and arrange on the prepared grill. Grill the fish for about 3-5 minutes, turn carefully, and continue grilling until the fish begins to flake when tested with a fork.
3. Serve the fish hot with the wine sauceand garnish with the chive strips.Time to elect three (3) new Board of Directors for 2003

I have a few goals that I would like to work on should I get elected. They are: plan and execute activities that would increase membership, increase visibility and support the survival of the club thus showing the Port District that we are a worthwhile organization for the area; increase club activities and get more members involved; and support anglers in keeping or releasing their catches.

My foremost reason for wanting to serve on the board for the Marlin Club is because of the generosity of present club members helping me and other new members achieve success with our quest for Marlin. The fellowship of other fisher-people, and the longstanding tradition and good name of the club energizes me to participate in the continuance of that success. I look forward to maintaining the level of excellence the club has enjoyed for many years, and also to do my part however Im needed.

One of my goals is to keep the club an institution of the San Diego waterfront in spite of the Harbor Commissioners. Our club needs new members, a strong management, planning for future capital improvement and above all, fish. I will pray for the latter and work for the former. I was weaned on Marlin fishing and am a practicing attorney in Fallbrook. Im active in community affairs such as rotary and the chamber. I am also a retired reserve marine judge advocate. I feel my experience can help the club. I need your vote.

If Im elected Director, I would actively pursue new members. I would also aid in the organization of future Marlin Club events such as membership drives and fishing tournaments. A goal I would like to see the club pursue would be to actively go out into the community to promote fishing for kids as an alternative to other not so desirable activities. Thank you for your consideration.

As a board member I would work towards increasing membership and participation in our club. I would like to initiate and promote year-round tournaments and club activities as well as increasing club visibility in the community.

I would actively coordinate activities that will help increase participation in our tournaments and other club activities. I would also work towards insuring that we meet our club goals and most importantly, have a club for the future.
Welcome Aboard New Members!
