MARLIN - J.D.'s Big Game Tackle Rumors of a 300lb Yellowfin Tuna coming into Cabo are apparently true, an 304lb yellowfin was taken by the Ya Hoo, 27 east of Cabo. Other boats were seeing 50lb to 100lb fish breaking water the last few days along a strong temp break that runs from the Pacific to the Gulf side. Some Yellowtails off the Rock and some Grouper too. White Jigs!.
Big Blue in Kona News this week of the first grander of the year for Kona -- blue off 1115lb... Writes Rick Gaffney: Captain Kevin Nakamaru accomplished a lofty goal when he landed an 1,115lb Pacific blue marlin aboard his recently restored 37ft Merritt, Northern Lights, in early April. My goal was to be the first in the world to catch three species of billfish over 1,000lb (black, Atlantic blue and Pacific blue). The third and most difficult grander to weigh is the Pacific blue and even though I have fished here [in Kona] all my life I have been unable to get one until yesterday.
