ALBACORE - Allcoast
Fish Reports JOHNSD Feb-20-01, 03:19 PM (PST)
"Albacore Caught" I just talked to friend via SSB Radio that is under way to
Guadalupe Island. He informed me that they picked up some albies 90 - 100 Miles from the
Point Loma. The fish weighed in around 15# to 25#'s. After picking up thelines. They did
not want to be held up any longer then they already were with the Albacore. Most all the
Paddies them came across had Yellows under them. Size he did not know they did not want to
fish the Yellows. They are staying 5 days at the island then returning back to San
Diego. The distance where these albies are at might be alittle far for most smaller boats.
If you do not have a big vessel one option would be to launch out of Ensenada at the Coral
and head out about 60 miles. This will put you in the right area. A good signin deed for
the approaching season. This season should be a short one as compared to last years season
so when they get close to San Diego Tuna fishermen be ready. This year they will not come
in as close as last year and swing to the outside about mid season. Water Temps and
currents predict this progressive water and temp activity. Ill report back when I hear
more information. John
